WELCOME!

We are a group of Marquette students working with Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity to ensure all people in Milwaukee (and beyond) have access to safe, decent, and affordable housing.

Join us in making a change in the lives of our neighbors.

Scroll thorugh the slideshow at the right to see us in action!

  • Nearly 1 in every 3 Milwaukee residents lives in poverty

       ...That's 171,500 people and 67,229 children

  • A household of 3 needs two people working minimum wage, or one person working 87 hours per week, to afford a 2 bedroom apartment at fair market price.

  • The average age of a minimum wage worker is 38 years old. (contrary to the popular belief that most minimum wage workers are teenagers)

  • 78% of minimum wage workers are over 20 years old.

Scroll down to find out how Marquette Habitat is working to change these statistics.

DID YOU KNOW?

We will be participating in Build Days almost every Saturday this semester (see our Calendar page for more information), some with Waukesha Habitat and some with Milwaukee Habitat.

Build Days are a great way for us to actively give back to the Milwaukee community. We work with Milwaukee Habitat to build homes for those in need. We will travel to the build sites as a group, spend a few hours working on the home, and get the chance to meet other Habitat members, as well as get to know each other better within our Marquette group!

Be on the lookout for more details regarding times, transportation, and how to sign up as the dates get closer!

MEET THE E-BOARD

(Photos and bios coming soon!)

Couldn't resist the Macklemore reference...."ReStore" is Habitat for Humanity's very own thrift shop!

We will be helping out at the Milwaukee Habitat ReStore throughout the semester. Some of the jobs include organizing donated furniture, stocking shelves, cleaning, and assisting customers. Again, be on the lookout for more details as the dates get closer.

RESTORE DAYS

Every year, we host service trips during winter break and spring break through the Habitat for Humanity Collegiate Challenge program. Collegiate Challenge offers university Habitat chapters (a.k.a. us) the opportunity to spend a week in a different part of the country - and even the world! - working with local Habitat groups to build homes there.

Some of our most recent trips include Santa Fe, NM; Macon, GA; Goldsboro, NC; and Cripple Creek, CO.

Stay tuned for the announcement of our next trip for Winter Break 2015!

COLLEGIATE CHALLENGE (aka TRIPS!)

We host a variety of events, socials, and fundraisers throughout the year - some for just Habitat members and some for all Marquette students - to help raise money for our group and to help everyone in Marquette Habitat get to know each other.

We like to be an active group on campus and we often work with other service organizations at Marquette. The picture above is of our team at Relay for Life last year, a fundraiser for cancer research hosted by Marquette's Colleges Against Cancer.

We will post all events, fundraisers, and socials on our Facebook and Twitter pages!
